Basted, self-drafted skirt

Well, I've cut out and basted my self drafted skirt in a wool fabric. I included inlays for further adjustments.

Yep, what a mess. The side seams ride forward at the hem and I have a bunch of extra fabric in the small of my back. Maybe a swayback adjustment?

You can also see that the front hem is wavy. Maybe because it's swinging forward?

I'm feeling so discouraged! It looked better in the muslin.

  1. I feel your pain, it is difficult to get yourself fitted if you have a curvy body... I would kill for your waist!!! But anyhow, it seems like your back darts might need to be a little longer, that should take care of all that fabric puckering around the darts. It looks like you just have too much fabric around your lower back/bottom area. If you needed to do a swayback adjustment, you'd have a lot of horizontal pulling in your lower back area in the back, and a dipping waistline in the front. Looking at the fit of this skirt, you seemed to have taken care of that issue already, without even considering it.
That's what it seems to me, but I'm not an expert. Good luck!
