Hi there! Whew, it's been a while, eh? I haven't been sewing as much as I would like to, lately, but I did manage to make a shirt. Just in time for my recent trip to Washington DC!
Here I am at the White House! This was my first time in DC. What a gorgeous city! The weather the first day was so hot I thought I was going to melt but then it cooled down.
I finished the shirt just before we left so I was excited to wear it! It's the same self-drafted pattern that I used for my last white shirt, but I slightly changed the shape of the hem and the side seams and lengthened the sleeves. Most importantly, this time I used different fabric on the inside cuffs and collar stand! Revolutionary.
When I made the last shirt, I noticed that there were some weird drag lines forming chevrons pointing at my crotch area. And then I totally forgot to try to fix it for this shirt! I spent some time adjusting the pattern this afternoon, so I think the issue will be fixed for next time. Of course, I've got, like, 7 button up shirts now, so I'm not sure when I'll make another.
One of my favorite experiences when I was in Washington was the insect zoo at the National Museum of Natural history.
Look at his cute little face!
